Hi,

Asus (or ALI) had several problems, some of them should be fixed 
with new BIOS revisons (problems with DVD drives on ide). The 
latest is ver. 1007 AFAIK, probably that could fix that behavior. For 
the ALI udma chipset there are known compatibility problems with 
specially Seagate harddrives (Seagate has new fimware).
