Double-check the split files that you have... the split files available
for FTP look just fine to me. e.g.:

oster@merlin-35> pwd
/u1/stage/NetBSD-1.4.2/i386/binary/sets/Split
oster@merlin-36> cat base* | md5
f7b2d2029d818f2abccde7283926d279
oster@merlin-37> md5 ../base.tgz
MD5 (../base.tgz) = f7b2d2029d818f2abccde7283926d279
oster@merlin-38>

The *SUM and MD5 files should help figure out what's wrong/missing too..

Later...
