ok. FWIW I have never done an NFS install, only full diskless setups or
FTP/local-CD installs. To each his own I guess.

The only reason I took NFS out was because it was big and I know I won't
need it. I'm not sure what the culprit was -- has IPv6 been pulled up?

I found an alternative to disabling NFS, but it's also Bad:

  - DDB
  - all the EISA attachments.
  - ppp pseudo-device.

With these disabled, it squeaks in with something like 5 blocks free.
But there are still 27 inodes free (read: wasted) on the same volume.

After I get some sleep I will look into reworking i386/floppies/bootfloppy
as a single-volume fdset. That should buy back enough space to take care
of everything.
