Ah, fascinating. So they then write _everything_ synchronously rather than
just the items that have an implicit ordering requirement? That seems daft
as it's hard to really work out what that would really win apart from
saving a bit of buffer space :-)

I have heard that the journaled FS in the latest SuSE works pretty well
tho'.
