Hi,

I had the chance to upgrade my old Toshiba Tecra 510 CDS to a Tecra 8000
today. I installed 1.4.1/i386, but when I tried to use my ethernet
card and/or my modem card, this didn't work any more. The network card was
recognized as ne2 (by the GENERIC kernel), but talking to it didn't work:
ne2: device timeout after ifconfig went fine, and when pinging around.

When booting up the kernel with the modem card plugged in, it got
recognized as comX (forgot the number), and then the system locked solid.

I've tried a -current kernel, and that helped at least for the network
card, the modem card still doesn't work. The dmesg output of the kernel
without the modem card is attached below.

The ethernet card is a Link Pro PCMCIA Ethernet Adapter, recognized as
ne0 on the Tecra 510, the modem card is a Global PC Card Modem (GSM
Ready).

Does anyone have similar experiences and know a cure?

I've already played with setting pcic_isa_alloc_iobase to several values
between 0x200 and 0x440, but that didn't help.
