This is entirely a software issue (the small 505's ship only with DVGate
Still, not DVGate Motion).  If you install DVGate Motion software (say from
a Vaio 290), the 505 series (incl your 505tx, and my 505fx) are able to
capture DV streams just fine (of course, with only a 4G drive, you can't
capture long sequences very well!).
