The interface card is a small  (6 x 10 cm) with a few logic chips.

The interface is probably not a minimalized SCSI host adapter.

I know the scanner is powered through the interface card. 8 lines from
the scanner port are fed through one of the chips, type HC245, probably
a buffer, to the ISA connector.

I am going to send an e-mail to the scanner manufacturer (Plustek).
Maybe that will work.
