You want *eight* IDE ports?  That's... um... rare, even if you really
just want four channels with two drives per channel (since our IDE
code does not support disconnection you probably do not want this).

Are such motherboards really manufactured?

The new Athlon boards look nice, and seem to get good marks for
stability in all the reviews I've read, but I haven't used one
personally.  My machines are all still Super 7 -- most recently
I picked up a K6-3 @450Mhz and a FIC PA-2017 with 2MB of cache
to go with it; they seem to be working well so far, and with
the 256k onboard cache on the K6-3 the whole setup _flies_.
