It depends on what jump you are taking, but "make build" after
installing a new kernel should do it. You may need a new config to
build the new kernel.

If you are transitioning from non-ELF to ELF, don't even bother doing
it yourself -- pick up a snapshot and do a source rebuild AFTER
crossing over to ELF.
