Subject: Heavy /dev/lpt use burdens system.

I'm using the interrupt-driven parallel port, lpt0, for printing
(actually, a slight modification that does NOT reset the parallel port
when opened; the default lpt0 caused my old Epson printer to dump its
buffer if a new print-job started while the old was still flushing).

Anyway, the system crawls while I'm dumping data to the new Laser printer.
Is therr ea way that I can fix this? (Would switching to the polling lpa*
device nodes help? Or could I adjust some priority somewhere?)
