Subject: IRQ2/IRQ9 doesn't work

I'm trying to set up my Supra 288i internal modem to use IRQ2 (or
IRQ9, whichever you want to call it), and I can't get it to work. The
same modem works just fine on IRQ3, but I need that IRQ line for
something else now (the serial printer I asked about a couple of days
ago, in case you're curious).

I built my kernel according to the i386 port-specific FAQ, which
basically says to set the modem for IRQ2 and the kernel config for
IRQ9 and everything should just work [see
http://www.netbsd.org/Ports/i386/faq.html#irq2or9]. But it doesn't
work.

I don't appear to have any other devices that are trying to use IRQ 2
or IRQ 9, so I don't believe that's the problem, unless my motherboard
just doesn't permit the use of that IRQ line by other devices for some
reason.

Any ideas what I might be doing wrong, and how I can get my modem
going on IRQ2?
