Are you sure you don't have something else which conflics with we0, at the
same I/O or IRQ (e.g. do you have any serial port at unusual I/O or
IRQ) ?
Could you try to move I/O and IRQ of your board so that it gets probed as
we1 instead ? If it work this could give us a clue at where the problem is.
