Uhmm, "going back" from -current would be to 1.4 right. :)  This is after
all '-current', not '-stable' or something.

Lose the AOUT.  You'll feel better. :-)

Seriously, it is really quite simple to run ELF only, though it requires
you to rebuild everything, including packages.

For those still struggling to bootstrap to ELF, Christos posted a script
not long ago (makemeelf or something?) that should address most of the
process. (probably all, though I don't know about recent changes)

My other suggestion would be to build your entire system *static* before
supping and updating to ELF.  Yes, this is overkill, but can help you
out if you make a mistake along the way.
