I've replaced the IDE cables several times thinking that might be the issue:
it isn't.  I've swapped drives around onto different channels: turns out that
whichever channel has 2 drives starts getting the 'lost interrupt' messages.

I've had this issue with not only 1.4, but also with 1.3+pciide patch.
The motherboard is the same in both instances (Abit LX6);  The drives have
changed slightly between setups (700M + 7G drives on 1.3) to the current
setup (which is below).
