There has been large amounts of response on this topic for the last year.
There probably wasn't any response to the last email.

Of my own knowledge I know:

1) The FreeBSD aic7xxx driver supports this chipset. It works in a CAM
framework. The author (Justin Gibbs) isn't interested in backporting the
aic7890 support into the NetBSD/OpenBSD aic7xxx driver- but isn't opposed
to somebody else doing so. There are no currently active plans for CAM
support in NetBSD.

2) I had heard rumors of somebody else working on AIC7890 support in the
current NetBSD aic7xx, but have heard nothing of progress or lack thereof.
