  AFAIK, TWAIN is a combined backend/frontend (GUI) standard for
Windows.  It is therefore not available under any other operating
system.  You might want to try SANE (http://www.mostang.com/sane/)
instead, which is available for a variety of Unix-like operating
systems.  For NetBSD, SANE is part of the package system ...
