As I've said a bunch of times now, if you issue the correct controls
to the console, it displays color just fine. The problem here is that
"BitchX" isn't issuing the control sequences that change the
colors. You'll need to figure out why that is.

I find it not the least bit surprising. Why would you get more than
the default boldface color in most apps? Most apps do not have color
support.
