Have you tried booting without himem.sys or emm386.exe? (Hold down
shift key while DOS starts up... hopefully you don't have DOS 3.3 to go
with Win 3.1 ;) I've heard that you're supposed to be able to use dosboot
with an XMS manager loaded, but it always locks up my machine.

I think I've seen that one too... I think I was trying to gdb a debug
build of mozilla (i.e. big) on an 80MB machine with no swap. Not sure
though :)
