Stupid Q:

How does one use IP tunneling?  Does one just

  ifconfig tun0 <local IP> <remote IP> netmask <mask>

and set routes and that's it?  (Or is it possible to use tun like ppp
at all?  Do we have encrypted tunneling available?  Did you all have
a Merry Christmas?)
