It should be one of the first things displayed on the screen when you power
the machine on.

My guess is that you have some flavor of Phoenix BIOS, probably 6.X.  By
any chance is your machine built around an Intel NLX form-factor motherboard?
One way to tell would be that the PCI slots would be sideways.
