Doing this can be useful to prevent fraud.  I've seen news reports of
unscrupulous PC stores selling one model and shipping another, with most
customers none the wiser.  I'd appreciate the warm fuzzies available
from reporting the internal CPU speed (if easily available) at boot
time.
