My suggestion would be to, at a minimum, port to 1.3.x simply to get
support in some stable release.

My second suggestion would be that it *might* be easier to maintain
support for various NetBSD versions (and architectures) by splitting
the low-level hardware driver off from the advanced features like
frame-relay, etc. This would allow various NetBSD developers to
maintain the basic driver, and even port to architectures other than
i386, hopefully reducing the effort needed to support NetBSD.

The "value added" modules could be object only, or LKMs, that would
only work with the specific hardware.

However it is accomplished support for NetBSD/i386 1.3.x would be
a *GOOD THING*.
