I am currently trying to get NetBSD up and running on an IBM ThinkPad
600, and have run into a little difficulty getting PCMCIA to work.

Upon boot, the kernel sees both PCMCIA slots fine, and it even allows me
to ifconfig up the ethernet card I have in one slot. Any time I try to
use said port, though, I get intermingled `sendto: host is down' and
`sm1 (or ep1 depending on the card): timed out', and nothing gets
through. I have tried this with both a Megahertz PCMCIA ethernet (sm1)
and a 3COM 3C589D (ep1) card, with both card slots. The network drop I
am using is known good (I'm using it to type this message using a PCMCIA
ep1 under NetBSD on a TP560...)
