When I run XF86Setup, it loads X and tells me:

-----------

Unable to read keyboard information from the server.

This problem most often occurs when you are running when you are running a
server which does not have the XKEYBOARD extension or which has it disabled.

The ability of this program to configure the keyboard is reduced without the
XKEYBOARD extension, but is still functional.

The problem is that once I get the message the window with the message in it
just sits there doing nothing and doesn't appear to be continuing.

I usually do have XKEYBOARD switched on and I've tried XF86Setup when it's
switched off. I've tried XF86Setup with my usual X server (XF86_S3), the SVGA
server and the X server that XF86Setup likes to load (XF86_VGA16). I've tried it
in X, out of X, as root and not as root and can't get past this problem.

Any ideas?
