Here are some quick tests I've run on my various machines to give output speed
of different cards. The cpu speed of the machines varies alot, but some of this
is valid information. This is all 10baseT, on a shared hub, very light network
traffic (almost none).

most tests were made from the P-150 to the other machines.. I made a few pipe
through all machines tests as well.

P-150: ne0 at pci0 dev 15 function 0: Realtek 8029 Ethernet
(fastest machine, fastest card)
Send: 1056.35 KB/sec 1.5% system time.
Recv: 950.42 KB/sec 0.8 system time.

486-DX2-66: we0: WD8013WC Ethernet (16-bit)
Send: 928.16 KB/sec 14.7% system time.
Recv: 823.68 KB/sec 7.1% system time.

The below is a LinkSys card, though I doubt it matters.
486-DX2-66: ne1: NE2000 Ethernet
Send: 429.37 KB/sec 31.1% system time.
Recv: 461.85 KB/sec 28.9% system time.

The moral of this story: ne2000 ISA cards should be avoided like the plauge.
Even an ancient 6 year old SMC WD8013 card is *twice* as fast. My sparc1's
give numbers in the high 900's (20 MHZ sparc processor). All these machines run
stock 1.3. Heck.. even my 486-33 with the WD8013 gets 811KB recv. rates.

No more crappy ne2000's for me. Its not even worth the $9's I paid for it.
