Simple: Do the cvs checkout with "-regcs_1_00_branch", then you'll get
only the stable versions that are supposed to be pre-releases. :-) I
did my last cvs update a few hours ago and this version compiled just
fine.

For the record: I wasn't able to compile the latest experimental
version either and have reported the problem to egcs-bugs, but didn't
get any reply yet.
