   The 82556 is quite different from the 82557/82558 and would require
an entirely new device driver. Last I heard, Intel required an NDA for
programming information of the 82556, which is one reason I never bothered
with it myself (the other being that the 82556 based cards were several
times the cost of the 82557 based boards).
