I've tried every BIOS version available on AOpen's ftp server, including
a not-yet-released beta (AP58 R1.40l). I sent them an email about the
problem on Friday but still haven't heard anything from them.

Another reader of this list suggested that maybe there's a problem with
Seagate Medalist disks (mine are both Medalist). Anyone else had any
(bad) experiences with Medalist disks on modern motherboards?
