I returned it and got a 3Com card.

Not sure, I never did try the ne(4) driver with it; perhaps I shoudl have
just for kicks.

The neighbor has a Linksys 10Mb PCI card tho, and de(4) talks to it fine.

Looks like I may be needing another machine here yet for NFS service,
perhaps I'll get the Linksys and use my old ISA based 3Com until
we could look closer at the Linksys yet again...
