Greeting NetBSD users:
I just installed the BSDI port of Netscape's Communicator 4.02b7.
I downloaded communicator from:
ftp://ftp.netscape.com/pub/communicator/4.02/4.02b7/english/unix/bsdi11/base_install/communicator-v402b7-export.x86-bsdi-bsd.tar.gz
The installation went through smoothly, without any error. However,
when I run Netscape's Communicator, I get the error message:
Cannot allocate memory.
Even though I have 32 MB of ram, and I am not running any other
processes, except the essential ones. Below are the list of
all of the running processes:
PID TT STAT TIME COMMAND
0 ?? DLs 0:00.39 (swapper)
1 ?? Ss 0:00.24 /sbin/init
2 ?? DL 0:00.02 (pagedaemon)
53 ?? Ss 0:02.15 syslogd
68 ?? Ss 0:25.64 update
70 ?? Is 0:03.30 cron
78 ?? Is 0:00.23 inetd
1134 p0 Ss 0:01.86 -tcsh (tcsh)
1180 p0 R+ 0:00.07 ps -agx
And below are the key boot messages:
NetBSD 1.2 (ALICIA) #0: Wed Feb 5 00:35:10 EST 1997
root@porpoise:/usr/src/sys/arch/i386/compile/ALICIA
CPU: i486DX (GenuineIntel 486-class CPU)
real mem = 33161216
avail mem = 29208576
using 430 buffers containing 1761280 bytes of memory
I compiled BSDI emulation into my kernel, and I have had no problems
running the BSDI ports of Netscape Atlas (version 3.02) and Netscape
Navigator (version 2.02) over the last 7 months.
Any ideas my I can't run communicator? Any assistance is greatly
appreciated. Thanks in advance. Sincerely, Alicia.
PS. I also set the environment variable MOZILLA_HOME with
Communicator's install directory,
