There are versions of the patches should work with either 1.2.1-ish,
or 1.2G -current.

`That person' is me, and I supposed to integrate the changes into the
official tree for the 1.3 release. I have a half-done split that uses
the MI wd driver, but haven't had time to finish them. (Only having a
RealTek 8029 and no ne2k cards to test on doesn't help.)

I dunno, this comes up often enough that even splitting off the ne
driver from if_ed might be worthwhile.
