The kernel included in this snapshot, like the other recently supplied
kernels, comes with APM enabled. My system's bootup output finds all
the network cards and SCSI interfaces and ends with this:

:
fdc0 at isa0 port 0x3f0-0x3f7 irq 6 drq 2
fdc0: can't set up ISA DMA map
isapnp0 at isa0 port 0x279: read port 0x203
isapnp0: <IBM Audio Feature, CSC0000, , WSS/SB> port 0x534/4,0x388/4,0x220/16 irq 5 drq 1,0 not configured
isapnp0: <IBM Audio Feature, CSC000F, , UNUSED> not configured
isapnp0: <IBM Audio Feature, CSC0010, , CTRL> port 0x110/8 not configured
apm0 at mainbus0: _

A blinking cursor is left where the _ is. The system hangs here forever.

If this is a problem with my system, please let me know what might be wrong
that I could debug it. Otherwise, is it possible to not include APM in
default kernels?
