We are working on making it much much better (yet.) Not only is SMP on it's way,
but a general modernization of the API is in the offing. (Even though our
SMP "works", it isn't where we want it to be.) Our standards don't allow us
to say that FreeBSD has SMP, but we can say that it is on it's way. We are doing
the development in the open, partially due to our philosophy. Rough edges that
exist are actively being polished.
