I am trying to install -current (snap-970616 to be exact) on a AST Manhattan G 
Series 560 machine. I can partition the disks and copy the INSTALL binaries 
from floppy to the hard disk. After ifconfig'ng the 3com 509 card the kernel 
will panic within a couple of commands, sometimes on the first ping, sometimes 
I can ftp to another host before the panic. Tha AST machine (the motherboard 
actually) is of 1993 vintage, it offers no options wrt IRA assignment to the 
isa bus. 

I built a new INSTALL kernel from -current of about a week ago, with the 
same results.

Any suggestions how I should attack this problem?
