Many sound cards and laptops use the ESS1688 (see www.esstech.com) sound 
chips (which has SoundBlaster [Pro] compatability).  However I can't 
seem to enable 44100Khz/stereo/16bit/linear (required for the amp mpeg
layer 3 player) on it.

So I've been thinking about writing a native driver for the ESS1688 (isa
and isapnp).  But before I do I was wondering if anyone else was working
on such a driver?  Is anyone else interested in working with me on the
driver?
