Well, not really replaced.  From what I've heard, it'll be more like
parallel development of Rhapsody and the MacOS.  Kinda like Windows NT
and Windows 95...  The main reason for this is that Apple will not be
supporting Rhapsody on older hardware--I think they're limiting it to
PowerPC systems with OpenFirmware (sound familiar? ;-).

For those who don't know, Rhapsody is a derivative of OpenStep.  It will
apparently have a "4.4BSD command line" accessible, and it'll be available
on intel and powerpc systems.  There's a bunch of other neat stuff on it
on Apple's web site and there's some interesting info  from John Norstad
at http://charlotte.acns.nwu.edu/jln/wwdc97.html...  It's currently vapor,
of course, although large and impressive chunks have been demoed and
developers will be getting a release this summer (Apple was handing out
CDs of the developer's release for Intel last month, I believe).

I'm curious, and I'd love to talk about it, but this ain't the forum...
