Agreed.   Still, after having SysV forcably shoved down my throat for
years, it's nice to be able to forget that it ever existed, and Linux
is an ugly reminder.

Actually, some of the Linux things you describe are even more evil
than SysV ever was, but somehow I just accept them when I have to hack
on Linux, because I don't have to take it seriously.   If somebody
tried to force me to use Linux, I'd probably develop a true hatred for
it.
