A `make clean' won't get rid of old .depend files; `make cleandir'
does the trick. It's not hard, when moving from one version to
another, to get your tree into a state where nothing will compile
properly until you do a make cleandir and start all over again from
scratch. I've had that fix odd errors time and time again.

If you're building from scratch, too, it's good to follow the
process you're shown by `make -n build' in /usr/src quite closely.
