Hmm indeed. As Ted pointed out, maybe you're running with backing
store. One other thing: which version of XF86 are you running? The
3.1.2x servers were gross hogs of memory (on my machine), whereas the
3.2 S3 server is pretty good. With about 10-15 windows open, one
netscape, a couple of xdvi's:
