While I have to admit, that I don't know how gfx-cards exactly work, I
have a hard time to believe, that you cannot reset the card to text mode,
regardless of the state it is in.
I agree that I wouldn't be able to switch back to the previous state, but
I don't think that this would be needed, as once you are dropped into
ddb, the only thing you still want to do is grovel the kernel structures a bit
to find out what happened and then reboot.
Or am I completly missing something,
