In general but Adaptecs are a bit pricey for what you get.

I got a 53c810A PCI SCSI card yesterday for 45 pounds (to replace an Adaptec
1542CP) and it works like a dream. It's not a low end device either, a number of
AlphaServers from Digital use this chip for their primary SCSI bus
Stephen.
