My fault.  The problem was the device right after ed0, the pas0.
I don't think I've changed this... I think it's always been
(well the SB portion has always been)...  IRQ 5 DMA 1 I/O 220.

So I guess my question is does anyone else have this problem.

While I'm on the subject, does that line in the CONFIG.SYS actually
set the PAS-16 portion in NVRAM, or does it only configure it as
a one-shot deal?
