built a new kernel
plugged in the sound card

sb0 at isa0 port 0x220-0x22f irq 7 drq 1: dsp v2.01

make certain the /dev devices were there.

but now I'm stuck.  maplay1_2 cores without a useable stack.
catting au files into /dev/audio makes a pop on open and a 
lighter click on close but no audio otherwise.

what am I doing wrong?
