Hmm, I'm putting off finishing the boot code rewrite until I finish the
ext2fs code for grub, which gave me an idea... I could probably also write
the aforementioned driver if there was enough interest (and hours in the
day).  A read-only one shouldn't be too hard to churn out.

Linux has a read-only ffs driver in alpha right now, which would make a neat
symmetry. :)
