Thanks for following this up so quickly, Charles!  Now that I know
that it's actually supposed to work, I'll crash it again, and this
time copy down the exact messages off the screen for you.  Along with
detailed specs on what hardware I'm actually running, and the output
from a booting March 13th kernel, I hope that will tell you something
that can be of use to you.

It'll have to wait a little while, though; I have a genuine user on
this system, you see, and she (my wife) is catching up on her mail
right now.  (Using "Mail Drop" (from Baylor U down in Oz) from her
Macintosh to connect to the UW IMAP server I'm running, by the way.
Great piece of software!)

Reasonably sure, yes -- particularly since it's a "short" card, and I
seem to remember that the "A" is full length, isn't it?  Anyway, I'll
have more specific information for you later this evening.
