It's worth note that unless *both* 486 and 586 support are *not* included in
the kernel config, NexGen Nx586-based machines panic early in the boot
process.

I know no further details.  An acquaintance of mine has one and could probably
be helpful if anyone's interested in working on this.  I seem to remember that
the floating-point on the Nx586, now that it's available, is pretty
impressive.
