It would be a bad spot on the record of NetBSD if the first arch it
ran on lost a large portion of its users to OpenBSD.  I would suggest
considering adding the ``bad'' code in a way it will not interfere
(prhaps make it all local to the i386 for now -- all the isadma
changes) until it can be made MI.

I haven't written enough kernel code to feel comfortable touching
things in that way but I can help with the grunt work given an example
and a bit if help.

As for the aha1542 specific problem, I found a aha2842 fairly cheap.
Unless I'm mistaken, this VLB card can deal with > 16M.  So I may just
use that.  I have a week to decide in any case.
