Hi !

Yesterday I tried to upgrade my system from 1.0 to 1.1. I first booted with
the kcoth11 image and then when prompeted inserted the upgrade floppy.
Everything was fine so far and the install script asked if I want to fsck my
root partition and I answered yes. This too worked, but when checking the other
filesystems a bus error ocurred and the script told me to reboot and to run
fsck manually. So I rebooted (with the floppy disk) and this time I was not
prompted to insert the second disk, but with the choices to 'reboot', to 'halt'
or to 'copy_kernel'. I did a copy_kernel and tried to reboot from the hard 
disk.
The boot started fine, the last thing I saw was the message 'changing root
partition to sd0a' and then the system only printed a message like
'process (pid 1) got signal 10'. When I try to boot an old (1.0) kernel it
hangs when trying to change the root partition to sd0a. So the question is
what have I done wrong and more intersting, what can I do now to get a working
system (besides reinstalling the whole thing from scratch) ?
My system is a 100Mhz Pentium PCI with 32 Megs of Ram, a NCR SCSI controller 
and
three HD.
Any hints are highly appreciated.
