No, the underlying file is local; it's part of the boot floppy
construction sequence:
dd if=/dev/zero of=inst-11.fs bs=100k count=12
vnconfig -v -c /dev/vnd0a inst-11.fs
newfs...
mount /dev/vnd0a /mnt
...
# all OK so far
sh MAKEDEV floppy
panic: locking against myself
