Sorry to boor everyone, but since this toshiba notebook is now doing
its screen tricks under DOS and in general acting totally stuffed I
think we can close the book on it until I get the hardware
fixed/replaced.

So whatever the cause, the problem is now the hardware.

Not bad for only 3 months old.
